What is it?
Sisley’s Black Rose Cream Mask is a pink-toned cream formula delicately scented with rose, and designed to plump, brighten and awaken the skin in a matter of minutes – in fact the packaging proclaims “instant youth”. It doesn’t come cheap, but its legions of fans suggest results that justify the price tag. Anti-ageing ingredients include black rose, vitamin E, chlorella and geranium oil.
Who is it for?
Due to its anti-ageing active ingredients, those concerned by fine lines, wrinkles and dullness will perhaps see the best results from this mask. However its deep hydrating action makes it great for dry and dehydrated skin in need of extra moisture. Those with blemish-prone skin may find it too rich for regular use and prefer to limit it to once per fortnight.
How do you use it?
The instructions suggest using the mask two or three times per week, applying a thick layer over the face and leaving on for 15 mins before wiping away the excess. However many of its ardent fans suggest leaving it on overnight – wake up with plumped-up, brightened skin come morning.
Why it’s a hero
Former Vogue beauty editor Kelly Gilbert says: “This is one of those products that genuinely feels like a luxury to use. Decadent even. And yet it makes a profound improvement to the complexion in a single use. This is a heady combination; enjoyable to apply and yet almost inexplicably effective. Before the results are apparent it’s the thick, silky texture of the cream that first suckers you in, then the bouquet of rose, which is rich and light all at once. Due to its cosseting nature, it is especially welcome post jet lag or lack of sleep, sunburn or illness. In an increasingly crowded beauty world of quick fixes, this luxurious mask, which takes a good 10 minutes to work its plumping, smoothing, radiant-giving magic, is a tad old-fashioned. But this is why it is so precious. It is serene me-time in a tube (which happily provides brighter, more youthful skin into the bargain).”
